Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and/or authorized personnel at a government corrections location by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, access requirements, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Monitor access points, verify credentials and authorization, maintain visitor and contractor entry records, and direct individuals according to established facility procedures.
  • Control entry and exit at assigned posts, report unauthorized access attempts or unusual activity, and communicate observations to appropriate site contacts.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and notifying appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas and perimeter access points, documenting observations and reporting maintenance, access-control, or security-related concerns.
