THIRD SHIFT - Armed Security Officer
About The Position
The International African American Museum is currently hiring for THIRD SHIFT Armed Full-Time Security Guards to monitor our galleries, lobby, and exterior grounds to ensure the safety of our guests and preservation of our treasured artworks. Our Armed Full-Time Security Guards play a vital role in protecting our sacred space while creating a welcoming and dignified experience for every visitor. By ensuring safety and accessibility, this role supports the IAAM’s mission to honor the untold stories of the African American journey at one of our country’s most sacred sites and to empower people with knowledge of the past.
Requirements
- Armed SLED certified.
- Pass SLED background investigation.
- Previous security experience required.
- Current C.P.R. and First Aid Certification or able to obtain it within 30 days.
- Current driver’s license with clean record.
- Must possess a Concealed Weapons Permit, or be willing to obtain one within 60 days of hire
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Understanding of the luxury & quality environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitors assigned area; reports suspicious activities to local authorities.
- Monitors surveillance cameras, inspects property, and monitors crowds.
- Contacts law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergency.
- After business hours, checks doors, windows, and gates to ensure the property is secure.
- Investigates reports of suspicious activity on the property.
- Reasonably detains persons suspected of criminal activity until law enforcement arrives.
- Escorts discharged staff, trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures, standards and practices, regulatory compliance, and company directives including dress code and attendance
