About The Position

The Armed Security Officer patrols designated HonorHealth properties, screens visitors, and performs other activities related to the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors. Some activities can involve elements of danger or risk of injury and restraining patients. Protects HonorHealth property, staff, patients, and visitors when needed. HonorHealth is a nonprofit healthcare system with a culture built on warmth and neighborly kindness, dedicated to caring for the health and well-being of people and communities across the greater Phoenix area.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Required
10 years law enforcement experience with separation in “good standing”, or retired law enforcement. Required
Drivers License (DL) - License Driver License Required
LEOSA - Certification Arizona LEOSA Certified Required
Successful completion of the HH Armed Security Officer Training Program 90 Days Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification certification through the American Heart Association 60 Days Required
Taser Certification - Certification within 90 days of hire by HonorHealth Public Safety/Certified Taser Instructor 90 Days Required

Responsibilities

Ensuring a safe and secure hospital campus.
Patrolling assigned areas, checking for suspicious activity or safety/fire hazards.
Investigating and/or reporting hazards, unusual or suspicious circumstances to the appropriate leadership personnel.
Checking doors and windows of buildings to ensure they are tightly closed and locked; noting in written log any unlocked doors/windows; submitting information to supervisor and/or manager.
Monitoring and managing ingress flow through weapons detection systems in accordance with operational procedures, while maintaining a professional and welcoming demeanor.
Demonstrating vigilance in identifying threats and hazards involving continuous monitoring, awareness, and proactive measures to detect and mitigate potential risks.
Escorting people/property to desired destination when monies, documents or safety of property or persons are a concern.
Responding to alarms and dispatched calls and taking appropriate actions.
Unlocking buildings/doors after checking identification and compliance with hospital policies.
Enforcing organizational policies (i.e. parking, smoking, badge compliance).
Providing training to staff as needed.
Assisting in emergency situations, acting as first responder to disturbances/emergencies such as infant abduction alarms, fire alarms, panic alarms, intruder alarms, restraint calls anywhere in hospital or on hospital grounds.
Responding to urgent security calls immediately, which may require rapid stair climbing, running/sprinting, moving of heavy equipment and other associated tasks.
Taking charge of maintaining order, safety and to protect personnel and property in the event of emergencies.
Interacting with and controlling hostile, belligerent, aggressive individuals involving some element of danger or risk of injury.
Subduing resisting, aggressive, combative and distressed individuals and when ordered by proper medical authority and in compliance with hospital policy/procedure, applying appropriate restraint equipment to prevent injury to individual or others.
Assisting law enforcement officers and security leadership with protection details, crowd control, and surveillance at large public events.
Assisting in providing security for mass casualty events including setting up Decon equipment.
Investigating and/or documenting incidents.
Documenting policy violations in citations or emails.
Maintaining a daily log of activities.
Providing and relaying information as directed.
Completing required training and annual/quarterly in-services.
Participating in security department training and continuing education programs including, but not limited to Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques, Self Defense Tactics & Techniques, quarterly firearms training and annual firearms qualifications leading to certification in the use of specialized equipment.
Representing HonorHealth as a brand ambassador for the company.
Greeting patients/visitors/vendors/staff with a smile.
Collaborating with and maintaining a positive working relationship with community partners.
Performing other duties as assigned.
