About The Position

The Armed Security Guard performs fixed-post, mobile, and foot patrols while maintaining situational awareness and following established post orders, facility rules, guidelines, and protocols. Duties may take place in austere or uncomfortable conditions, including inclement weather, and may involve prolonged periods of walking, standing, searching, surveillance, or sitting. The role protects government property and facility occupants by monitoring alarms and communications, screening people and vehicles, conducting inspections and patrols, responding to security incidents, monitoring access-control and RFID systems, and maintaining required logs and documents. The guard may assist law enforcement, preserve evidence, and testify in judicial or administrative proceedings. Access to designated government facilities is mandatory; denial or revocation of that access ends the employment relationship because the minimum job requirements can no longer be met. The position has rotating shifts, days, and times to meet contract requirements; night and weekend work is required. The stated pay rate is $27.15 per hour plus $5.75 per hour for health and welfare. Applicants must have a state-issued guard card before hire.
