About The Position

Coastal Security Services, Inc. is hiring a full-time Armed School Security Officer to provide security at school campuses in the Hilton Head Island, South Carolina area. The officer helps maintain a safe and secure learning environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, and is expected to be professional, alert, and approachable while recognizing the responsibilities of working in a school setting.

The position follows the school calendar and has a consistent Monday-through-Friday schedule during school hours. Summers, school holidays, and breaks follow the school schedule. Hours may vary depending on campus events or school requirements.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a SC SLED Armed Security Officer Registration.
• Must have a clean criminal background and pass a SLED background check and school district screening.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
• Must reside in or be willing to commute to the Hilton Head Island, SC area.
• Must be available to work Monday through Friday during school hours.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional demeanor and composure under pressure.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform foot patrols.
• High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

• Prior law enforcement, military, or security experience.
• School or campus security experience.
• Crisis intervention or de-escalation training.
• Familiarity with access control systems, CCTV, and incident reporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide armed security coverage at assigned school campus or campuses.
• Monitor access points and control entry to school buildings and grounds.
• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of buildings, parking areas, and perimeters.
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems as applicable.
• Maintain accurate daily activity reports and incident documentation.
• Serve as a visible, professional security presence on campus.
