About The Position

85°C Bakery Cafe is a retail bakery and cafe chain with over 60 locations in the United States and more than 1000 locations worldwide. We sell bread, coffee, tea, cake, pastries, and other desserts. This role requires travel throughout the Austin & San Antonio area store locations to conduct on-the-job training for new hires, ranging from managers to franchisees, to familiarize them with daily operational procedures. The Area Trainer ensures and participates in the highest levels of training standards and operational excellence at new store openings, providing honest and transparent feedback on performance. They will conduct classes, workshops, individual team member training sessions, and operation audits as needed. This role involves training, developing, and mentoring new team members for both front and back of the house, ensuring full certification and successful task execution. The Area Trainer is expected to take initiative in creating and leading new procedures to improve efficiency and team member productivity, and to support the identification and development of future leaders. They will execute day-to-day training needs, coordinate training sessions, deliver materials, coach team members, and identify areas for improvement, working closely with the corporate team to ensure proper execution. The Area Trainer will lead by example, adhering to company policies and procedures, and will work in key positions within all 85C restaurants to provide support when needed, as determined by their Direct Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience, in restaurant management and/or hospitality restaurant.
  • Understanding and execution of kitchen operations is highly preferred.
  • Capable of conducting and assessing restaurant inventory.
  • Must have knowledge of restaurant systems, including but not limited to ALOHA, CTUIT or other POS systems; knowledge of MS Office Suites; able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills with qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to corporate mission.

  • Must have appropriate city, state and federal certifications according to location of restaurant, including alcohol and food handling certificates.
  • Food Safety Certification for Managers
  • Restaurant management: 3 years (Required)
  • Must have at least 2 years of bakery experience (Required).
  • This position requires moderate physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting.
  • This position requires nearly continuous standing and walking, repetitive hand motions, and reaching overhead.
  • Employees may be exposed to unusual elements including extreme temperatures of coolers and freezers.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts on-the-job training to help new hires, ranging from managers to franchisees, become familiar with our stores daily operational procedures.
  • Ensures and participates in the highest levels of training standards and operational excellence at new store openings.

  • Conducts various field training programs, Operational Assessments, and various L&S training's on a monthly and/or quarterly basis.
  • Trains, develops and mentors new team members for both front and back of the house, ensuring full certification and successful execution of tasks.
  • Takes initiative to create, lead and encourage efficiency through new procedures and increasing the productivity of team members.
  • Supports identification and development of future leaders among new team members and management.
  • Executes day-to-day training needs, including coordinating training's, delivery of materials, coaching team members and identifying areas of opportunities.
  • Works closely with corporate team members, corporate management team to ensure proper execution.
  • Leads by example, by ensuring and adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Works in key position within all 85C restaurant to provide support when needed as determined by Direct Supervisor.
