In collaboration with other Area Superintendents and under the supervision of the Department Manager, this position will be primarily responsible for the oversight of the operations, strategic planning and personnel management of our General Forepersons and Forepersons within the sheet metal trade of the assigned area. This role supervises General Forepersons and Forepersons. The Area Superintendent will lead and oversee all sheet metal field activities to ensure standards and productivity are met in an effort to achieve company goals. This includes assisting direct reports with resource management, proper team selection, project execution strategies and scheduling, weekly project progress, health, and safety reports, and providing resolution of issues, challenges, and obstacles. The role is also responsible for the execution of QA/QC protocols, implementation of Safety Department's protocols, implementation of corporate policies and procedures, and planning for successful project installation. Strategic planning involves understanding and supporting the strategic plan and corporate vision, ensuring adoption and implementation of standard processes and procedures to achieve high-level quality, productivity, and efficiency across field operations, identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with construction operations, and ensuring safety measures are up-to-date and communicated effectively to all field personnel. Personnel management includes adhering to and promoting company policies, instilling a culture of accountability, integrity, ethics, and respect, mentoring, training, and developing top-performing supervisors for succession planning, coordinating labor requests with local union labor halls, and being responsible for all hiring and termination of union sheet metal staff within the assigned area. Collaboration involves creating and fostering collaborative relationships among leadership teams across varying departments and locations, participating in cross-functional initiatives and projects, working closely with Project Managers and PEs on bid strategies and current constructability, resource availability, labor budgets, project execution opportunities, and potential project challenges, and collaborating with regional superintendents to share experience, develop best practices, align processes, and leverage resources.
