About The Position

LDF is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and energetic Area Sales Manager for the Poteau, Oklahoma market. This role is responsible for developing an effective relationship management program with assigned supplier(s) that adopts best-in-industry practices and aligns key suppliers' needs with LDF's strategic priorities. The Area Sales Manager works under general supervision to direct daily sales efforts of all assigned personnel to assure attainment of specific sales and profit goals, brand and package quotas for the assigned territory. The ASM serves as the communication conduit between the assigned supplier and the LDF sales team, ensuring resources are optimized and focused on profit-driven supplier activities that also support company goals. The ideal candidate must be passionate about sales, innovative, and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial, business-oriented, and customer-focused mindset. They will work to meet company and account objectives by implementing strategies and tactics while maximizing profitable long-term growth for both. This position is accountable for increasing sales/profitability through effective management of the off-premise sales department. Responsibilities include supervision of sales management and staff, development of sales goals, and coordination with suppliers, warehouse, and delivery departments. The role involves working independently to direct and control the sales of all packaged products and suppliers to off-premise customers, including promotions, merchandising, customer relations, and complaints, as well as employee selection, training, and evaluation. Responsibilities also include managing sales revenue and safeguarding planned margins while controlling expenses.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years beverage distribution sales experience.
  • Five or more years of supervisory responsibility.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all federal, state, county and city laws pertaining to the sale of all products.
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of all supplier products, policies, procedures and operations specifically marketing and promotional activities.
  • Basic word processing, spreadsheet, database management and computer skills are required.
  • Understanding of basic office functions and decorum.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • State issued credentials and requirements for selling alcoholic products.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree or equivalent beverage experience.
  • Strongly prefer completion of supplier training seminars and formal professional sales training.

Responsibilities

  • Directs implementation of company plan to include volume objectives, net sales plan, gross margin target and department expenses.
  • Works with each supplier to manage and grow sales, distribution, and expansion of market share on their brands.
  • Management of monthly sales plan to include allocation of assigned net sales goals, distribution objectives, display goals, merchandising objectives, thematic programs and incentives.
  • Implements action plans to introduce new, seasonal or promotional packages/products.
  • Provides timely recap of monthly sales plan and updating of monthly Corporate Objectives.
  • Directs quality assurance program through monthly audits of each route and enforces procedures to ensure compliance with supplier agreements.
  • Supervises product merchandising and ensures that adequate POS materials are available.
  • Handles customer complaints pertaining to routing or sales and assures customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains key account list and call frequency schedule for self and team.
  • Provides leadership, training, and direction for Area Managers and entire sales team.
  • Directs the sales training program in conjunction with Area Managers.
  • Provides on-board training for all new employees, both sales and delivery.
  • Recruits, screens, interviews and hires personnel.
  • Maintains department labor expenses within budget.
  • Works with sales staff to observe and evaluate employee performance and to make suggestions for improvement.
  • Completes 90-day performance appraisals on new hires and annual evaluations on all department personnel.
  • Responsible for regular communication of all internal and external communications to entire sales team, including regular Area Manager meetings and sales meetings.
  • Ensures strict adherence to company policies and procedures and controls in regard to sales activities, trade expenses, and expense reports.
  • Maintains a strict adherence to a variety of sales administration duties including status reports, new hire forms, re-routing, supplier market visits, manpower planning and authorization of PTO.
  • Ensures all LDF vehicles and equipment are maintained according company standards as listed on FDAA form, operates Company vehicles according to Fleet Safety Manual.
  • Assures all sales practices are in accordance with rules and regulations as defined by the local, state and federal governing bodies.
  • Performs other assignments as requested by EVP/General Manager and VP of Sales.
