About The Position

This position is responsible for contributing to the overall business sales initiatives, initiating sales contacts, researching customer needs, and developing applications of products and services. The role involves maintaining and growing the existing customer base, exploring new markets for sales opportunities aligned with divisional strategies, and monitoring emerging markets. The Area Sales Manager will research potential customers, follow up on sales leads, develop sales and marketing presentations, and propose supply contract outlines. Collaboration with channel partners, cross-divisional selling, and staying informed about competitive activity are also key aspects of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall business sales initiatives set forth each year
  • Initiate sales contacts, research customer needs and develop application of product and services to meet their requirements
  • Maintain and grow existing customer base
  • Explore new markets for new sales opportunities with emphasis on new that are in line with divisional strategies and goals
  • Monitor immerging markets and make recommendations to management
  • Research and maintain a list of potential customers in designated markets
  • Follow up on sale leads and initiate calls to new prospective customers
  • Develop sales and marketing presentations and proposals when required
  • Recommend and propose supply contract outlines for new business
  • Work with channel partners to gain market information
  • Do cross divisional selling where it meets the company strategy
  • Keep abreast of competitive activity and understand their strengths and weakness
  • Develop a plan to service existing customers
  • Develop a call schedule to develop new business
  • Provide an outline for new business initiatives in the region
  • Travel to customer locations
  • Make individual and joint calls in development of new opportunities
  • Initiate sample request
  • Initiate quote request
  • Write and present supply proposals to customers
  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions and industry associations as required
  • Maintain effective relationships with peers, superior and other Winpak personnel
  • Effectively communicate customer and market needs for project teams
  • Problem-analysis and resolution skills
  • Keep your supervisor advised of important customer needs and issues
  • Manage and document all customer complaint feedback
  • Stay in tune with market trends and customer needs and report back to management
  • Provide monthly progress reports 1st week of every month
  • Provide call reports on any significant activity
