About The Position

This role is for an Area Manager at the East Plant, specifically for the Thacker Pass project in Nevada. The Thacker Pass project is a significant lithium resource development, aiming to be the largest lithium production facility in the United States. Bechtel is the EPCM contractor responsible for managing the engineering, construction, and procurement of this facility. The project is located in a remote area of northern Nevada and is planned with a strong emphasis on sustainability, including water recycling and energy generation from process heat. The Area Manager will lead a team and supervise superintendents and craft professionals, ensuring that work is performed according to specifications, schedules, and budgets, while adhering to project policies and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Requires Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 13-15 years of relevant experience, or 17-19 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities of all disciplines, all construction technologies and job-site management.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” safety program.
  • Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements and general awareness of environmental laws.
  • Knowledge of government compliance standards.
  • Heavy industrial US direct hire construction experience.
  • Knowledge of local labor laws and issues.
  • Knowledge of manual craft timekeeping, word processing, spreadsheet and other standard applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
  • Knowledge of project and Bechtel Quality Assurance program.
  • Working knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project.
  • Direct craft professional activities and work schedules.
  • Coordinate subcontract work activities and team development.
  • Ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive.
  • Ensure compliance with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules.
  • Ensure work is performed within specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Supervise and direct craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned.
  • Determine workforce requirements.
  • Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
  • Monitor tool and equipment usage on the site.
  • Prepare Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables.
  • Ensure the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
  • Ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications.
  • Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
  • Monitor work activities and ensure the quality of work performed.
  • Work with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
  • Coordinate engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
