About The Position

American Track, a member of North American Rail Solutions (NARS), is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead sales and operational efforts in their assigned region. This leadership role is crucial for all aspects of the organization, including safety, productivity, and the effectiveness of sales, administrative, and operational functions. The ideal candidate will have strong operational expertise, the ability to work autonomously, and a proven track record of leading teams to profitability and achieving key performance metrics.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Minimum
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Civil/Construction Engineering, Marketing or related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 5+ years in railroad operational or sales leadership
  • 3+ years in P&L management and budgeting
  • Qualified on FRA Title 49 Part 213 and Part 214 track safety standards
  • Ensure compliance with all company, customer, and FRA rules/policies
  • Knowledge of rail maintenance and/or commercial construction operations
  • Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings, right-of-way maps, and construction plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in MS office
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with others
  • Ability to work in fluid environments, highly flexible and able to set/adjust priorities with market needs.
  • Excellent planning and time management abilities
  • Ability to multitask effectively
  • Valid State Driver’s License – CDL (Or ability to obtain one within 90 days); pass DOT alcohol & drug testing

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring staff conduct work safely, efficiently, and responsibly, complying with federal, local, and company guidelines.
  • Managing the execution of all operations within the assigned area, including inspections, repair, and construction of tracks, signals, and roadbeds.
  • Preparing annual budgets, setting financial goals, and establishing sales targets with senior leaders.
  • Analyzing monthly KPI reporting and coordinating with staff on discrepancies.
  • Regularly preparing and reporting results regarding activity, project status, and leads for company financials and sales opportunity pipeline.
  • Overseeing inventory levels for accuracy, timeliness, and responsible management and reporting.
  • Overseeing the assignment and dispatch of crews and equipment for maintenance and projects within the assigned project, customer, or region.
  • Establishing headcount targets and participating in candidate interviews.
  • Leading, motivating, and training staff to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Communicating regularly with staff and participating in leadership meetings and training courses.
  • Actively participating in pre-production planning meetings and collaborating with engineers, subcontractors, supervisors, and others to determine project needs.
  • Managing key customer relationships and participating in the sales process within the assigned region.
  • Assessing and analyzing future customer needs to increase revenue within the assigned region.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
