Pearce from CBRE is seeking an Area Manager, UPS Field Service, to lead technicians who maintain and repair mission-critical power systems throughout the Central Southwestern Region. This manager is responsible for safe field execution, service quality, technician development, and customer satisfaction. The Area Manager works closely with dispatch, customer success, and regional leadership to keep work on schedule and resolve service issues. Success in this role requires strong UPS technical knowledge, sound judgment in the field, and the ability to coach technicians while holding the team accountable for its work.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of UPS systems and associated electrical equipment, with the ability to assess field work and guide technicians through technical issues.
  • Experience leading or supervising field service technicians in a customer-facing environment.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and service documentation for mission-critical equipment.
  • Ability to coach technicians at different experience levels and address performance concerns directly and fairly.
  • Strong communication skills with technicians, customers, dispatch, and other support teams.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, make sound decisions during service escalations, and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety practices and applicable OSHA and NFPA 70E requirements.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned service territory, with occasional overnight travel as business needs require.
  • Willingness to work varied hours and help coordinate responses to emergencies, including evenings or weekends when needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company vehicle requirements.
  • Ability to visit active job sites, work in varied conditions, and lift up to 110 pounds.
  • Ability to complete required pre-employment screenings, where applicable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance Access to customer facilities, including data centers, telecommunications sites, healthcare facilities, industrial locations, and government installations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support field technicians servicing UPS systems and related critical power equipment.
  • Conduct field visits to assess technical skills, review completed work, reinforce safety practices, and provide specific coaching.
  • Review preventive maintenance and repair documentation for accuracy, quality, and opportunities to improve service.
  • Build training plans for technicians, support new-hire onboarding, and coordinate in-field training.
  • Partner with dispatch to address scheduling conflicts, service delays, emergency calls, and technician coverage needs.
  • Help manage the on-call rotation and coordinate responses to customer emergencies.
  • Monitor service quality, safety, productivity, job completion, and route performance. Address issues through coaching and follow-up.
  • Confirm technicians have the training, certifications, PPE, tools, and materials required for their assigned work.
  • Respond to customer questions and escalations in partnership with regional leadership and customer success teams.
  • Understand the scope of customer work and coordinate requests for services outside the agreed scope.
  • Support technician interviews, hiring decisions, and performance management.
  • Oversee fleet readiness and work with support teams to resolve vehicle, equipment, and system access issues.
  • Promote compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, company safety procedures, and customer site requirements.
