About The Position

The Area Manager – Transportation Service Shop leads maintenance operations supporting Walmart’s private fleet and the safe, reliable delivery of goods to stores. The role leads technicians in a fast-paced, 24/7 service shop environment, maintaining standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence. Walmart Transportation Service Shops provide preventative maintenance and repair services for tractors, trailers, and equipment to support fleet reliability, safety, and continuous improvement across the network. The position oversees daily shop operations, implements area business plans, manages staffing and workloads, and monitors operational and financial performance. The Area Manager hires, trains, coaches, and develops associates; reinforces safety standards and company policies; and works with leaders and support teams to address associate concerns and improve operations.

One of the following minimum qualification paths: an associate's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field and one year of supervisory experience; a bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field; one year of Walmart Refurb/Service Shop or Walmart Logistics management experience; three years of service shop technician experience; or an industrial technical certification (such as ASE, Air Conditioning, DOT Brake, or DOT Preventative Maintenance) and one year of supervisory experience in heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance.

Responsibilities

Lead daily service shop operations with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance.
Implement the area business plan by setting goals, managing staffing and scheduling, assigning work, and coordinating workloads to meet performance targets.
Lead preventative maintenance programs for tractors, trailers, and shop equipment to ensure fleet readiness.
Prepare, review, and analyze operational and financial reports to monitor productivity and manage expenses.
Monitor performance metrics, identify losses or inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure associates are trained in maintenance procedures, safety standards, and company policies.
Supervise, develop, and engage associates through hiring, coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
Promote open, two-way communication and address associate concerns by partnering with leaders and support teams.
Reinforce Walmart’s zero-loss mindset and lead by example as a safety champion.
