About The Position

Ashley | The Wellsville Group is seeking an Area Manager to lead and support multiple showrooms within their market. This role involves partnering closely with General Managers and store leaders to drive sales, develop talent, elevate the customer experience, and build strong retail teams. The Area Manager will spend significant time on the sales floor, using data and coaching to identify opportunities and improve performance. This position can be based in either Liverpool, NY or Camillus, NY, supporting stores within those markets.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in a retail, sales, hospitality, or similar customer-focused environment.
  • A track record of developing leaders and improving team performance.
  • Strong business and sales acumen.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • A hands-on leadership style and willingness to spend significant time in showrooms and on the sales floor.
  • High initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office and business tools such as Basecamp, OneNote, BI reporting, and other technology.
  • Ability to travel throughout the market and occasionally outside the market as needed.
  • Genuine passion for developing people and helping teams win.
  • Demonstrated success leading people, driving performance, and developing leaders in a retail or similar customer-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support multiple showrooms across the market.
  • Partner closely with General Managers and store leaders to drive sales, develop talent, and elevate the customer experience.
  • Spend time on the sales floor, using data, observation, and coaching to identify opportunities and improve performance.
  • Regularly walk the sales floor, observe the business, coach in the moment, and model great leadership and selling.
  • Develop strong leaders who can build engaged, accountable, high-performing retail teams.
  • Ensure stores are staffed appropriately and leaders are actively recruiting, onboarding, coaching, and developing their teams.
  • Help leaders prioritize their time and focus on activities that have the greatest impact on sales and customer experience.
  • Use coaching, guided learning, role-play, and best-practice sharing to help leaders and sales teams continually improve.
  • Review sales and performance data to understand trends and opportunities.
  • Partner with GMs to create actionable plans to improve sales, conversion, productivity, staffing, and showroom performance.
  • Hold leaders accountable to goals while providing necessary coaching and support.
  • Identify market trends and opportunities and share replicable strategies.
  • Maintain oversight of operational execution, ensuring showrooms are clean, organized, customer-ready, and operating efficiently and profitably.
  • Champion a customer-first selling culture.
  • Coach leaders on creating a welcoming and engaging customer experience.
  • Help teams consistently execute the selling process.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the customer journey and showroom experience.
  • Work closely with retail leadership and cross-functional partners to align on business priorities and share market insights.
  • Champion company initiatives, new selling strategies, technology, and reporting tools.
  • Share best practices between showrooms and create market consistency.
  • Model professionalism, accountability, and company values.
