About The Position

Solenis is seeking an Area Manager to join their Food and Beverage team in California. This role is ideal for an individual who excels at developing people, building strong partnerships, and driving business results, while possessing deep, hands-on food safety expertise relevant to customer operations. The Area Manager will lead, support, and develop a team of approximately 5-8 sales representatives to achieve targeted total gross profit across feeder parts, technical services, and sales. This includes partnering with the team to meet district sales goals and budget commitments, coaching and mentoring to enhance commercial, technical, and business capabilities, and fostering consistency by ensuring alignment with systems, policies, and regulatory requirements. The role also involves identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost management, implementing performance planning and development conversations, and collaborating closely with key customers and internal partners. A significant aspect of the role is serving as a trusted technical and commercial partner to customer QA, operations, and food safety teams, with a particular focus on beef and poultry processing environments.

Requirements

  • Practical experience within food and beverage processing environments.
  • Strong understanding of Cleaning & Disinfection (C&D), Water Treatment, and Food Safety programs.
  • Ability to support, position, and develop intervention solutions in collaboration with technical specialists.
  • College degree.
  • Experience selling in a B2B environment (specialty chemical sales preferred).
  • 2–3 years of experience leading or managing a sales team.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and ongoing development of commercial and technical expertise.
  • Ability to translate strategic priorities into clear, achievable actions and responsibilities.
  • Collaborative mindset and a genuine desire to contribute to team success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and develop a team of roughly 5-8 sales representatives to achieve targeted total gross profit across feeder parts, technical services, and sales.

  • Implement and support performance planning and development conversations.
  • Collaborate closely with key customers, large/local accounts, and Key Account Managers, with clearly defined plans and shared accountability for execution.
  • Serve as a trusted technical and commercial partner to customer QA, operations, and food safety teams—particularly within beef and poultry processing environments.
