About The Position

The Area Maintenance Specialist performs regular preventative and unscheduled/emergency maintenance on a variety of equipment associated with the production area. This role involves maintaining an equipment parts inventory, ordering replacement parts, and notifying supervisors of any equipment issues. The specialist will also perform building and grounds maintenance, work with outside vendors, and ensure all duties comply with USDA or FDA, OSHA, and state/local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience with strong skills in equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Knowledge of machine repair, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and janitorial skills.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use necessary hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls (PLC).
  • Ability to comprehend verbal instructions and read and interpret machine specs, instruction manuals, and product labels.
  • Reliable and dependable.
  • Available to work Monday through Friday and occasionally Saturday or Sunday as directed.
  • High level of job motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • A two-year degree or completion of a program in mechanical or industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular preventative and unscheduled/emergency maintenance on production area equipment.
  • Maintain equipment parts inventory and order replacement parts.
  • Notify Production Supervisor or Production Manager of questionable conditions or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Work with outside vendors as necessary.
  • Perform maintenance of building and grounds as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Ensure all duties comply with USDA or FDA, OSHA, state and local regulations, and company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and GMPs.
