About The Position

The Area Maintenance Specialist performs regular preventative and unscheduled/emergency maintenance on a variety of equipment associated with the production area. This role involves maintaining an equipment parts inventory, ordering replacement parts, and notifying supervisors of any equipment issues. The specialist will also work with outside vendors, perform building and grounds maintenance, and ensure all duties comply with USDA or FDA, OSHA, and state and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5 + years’ manufacturing experience with strong skills in equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must possess knowledge of machine repair, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting and janitorial skills.
  • Required to be familiar with and use the hand tools and power tools necessary to perform those skills.
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls (PLC).
  • Have the ability to comprehend verbal instructions and read and interpret machine specs, instruction manuals and product labels.
  • Be reliable and dependable; available to work Monday through Friday and occasionally Saturday or Sunday as directed by management.
  • Have a high level of job motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • A two-year degree or completion of a program in mechanical or industrial maintenance a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular preventative and unscheduled/emergency maintenance on a variety of equipment associated with the production area.
  • Keep equipment parts inventory list, order replacement parts as necessary.
  • Detect and notify the Production Supervisor or Production Manager of questionable conditions and/or equipment that is not working properly.
  • Work with outside vendors as necessary.
  • Perform maintenance of building and grounds as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with USDA or FDA, OSHA and state and local regulations and company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and the use of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
