About The Position

The State Highway Administration's (SHA) District 3 (Montgomery and Prince George’s County) is currently recruiting for an Area Engineer (Transportation Engineering Manager II) position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification. The Area Engineer’s main purpose is to perform as a fully proficient Construction Area Engineer representing the District Engineer and Assistant District Engineer-Construction in the administration and management of the highway construction program and personnel in SHA District 3. This position manages and coordinates work assignments for approximately 75-100 Office of Construction and Consultant Engineers and Engineering Technicians. The Area Engineer performs this duty beginning with the project planning phase through the design phase, the construction phase, and finally through project closeout.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in professional engineering, including one (1) year of supervisory or consultant management experience.
  • Four (4) years of experience must be in construction contract administration or construction project management.
  • Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.

Responsibilities
