About The Position

Responsible for the safe and efficient organization and operation of the repairs and maintenance department at The Cloudveil, to manage and oversee the department in accordance with standards and guidelines established by Management. Corporate responsibilities include providing leadership, mentoring, and direction for onsite Engineering Managers (“EMs”) in collaboration with on-site property General Managers (“GMs”). Accountable for ensuring fire, life, safety, and code compliance, maintaining a system of records, documenting quarterly audits, and following up on action plans. This role involves creating property-by-property Capital Management Plans, documenting and administering property capital plans, adhering to established capital budgets, and creating a calendar cataloging all property-level upgrades to ensure asset protection. The position requires conducting detailed quarterly walkthroughs with reports copied to property management and the COO, and overseeing project management for asset enhancement projects exceeding onsite Engineering Team capacity. The role also monitors the daily operation of the repairs and maintenance department, assesses priorities, enforces management standards and departmental policies, manages and controls purchasing to stay within budget, and is responsible for creating and facilitating a preventative maintenance schedule. Directs and evaluates staff performance through follow-up and training, hires and supervises the maintenance team, and develops training programs for effective results. Establishes and ensures compliance with guest service standards, utilizes inventories for high-quality property maintenance, and develops positive rapport with all stakeholders. Initiates and maintains effective communication within the department and with other departments and staff, ensures grooming and conduct standards are enforced, and provides feedback to management and corporate office team members on maintenance and repair needs. Develops and maintains effective payable, payroll, work order, and other paperwork systems, and ensures quality control and care of supplies and equipment. Schedules weekly departmental meetings and daily shift briefings. The role is aligned with the culture, values, goals, and human resource programs of the management company, always maintaining a professional appearance and attitude. Supports the management company’s environmental commitments by being a leader in the global goal of “greening” the hospitality industry. Accountable for ensuring fire, life, safety, and code compliance. Travels to other properties within the portfolio as required. Maintains documentation resources including preventive maintenance, risk management, loss prevention, safety, security, regulatory compliance, training, and standards. Guides property GMs and creates capital planning for building maintenance, asset protection, and value add. Supports GMs with hotel management initiatives, corporate policies, and procedures at a property level. Acts as the corporate designate for property GMs to handle hotel-specific issues, initiatives, capital planning, ideation, and project implementation. Explores synergistic opportunities, shares best practices and resources, and facilitates employee development between hotels. Promotes active communication and support among properties through GMs. Reviews and analyzes patterns, trends, guest sentiment, and employee sentiment, establishing short and long-term strategies with GMs to enhance property performance and monitors outcomes. Performs on-site monthly property inspections focusing on overall property condition, PM Programs, and safety/security practices, collaborating with GMs to implement necessary changes. Utilizes experience reports to devise solutions for exceeding guest sentiment score goals for property condition and ensures full compliance with hotel/brand standards. Promotes a culturally diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. Participates in quarterly walkthroughs and identified remediations for Employee Housing (“EH”) in partnership with property owners and on-site management. Provides strategic guidance to GMs to navigate regulatory compliance and litigation opportunities. Partners with EMs to respond to issues and opportunities identified in employee engagement surveys. Identifies suitable projects (ROI where applicable) at hotel properties in conjunction with GMs, researches pricing, sources vendors, establishes timelines, presents to ownership for approval, and completes approved projects on budget and time. Prepares and delivers accurate Engineering operations analytical reports monthly and quarterly on a per-property basis. Trains new EMs for successful onboarding and cultural orientation.

Requirements

  • Proven track record working with hotel and building operating systems.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of hotel operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with high-quality guest service.
  • Ability to present and conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a high volume/time-sensitive environment.
  • Ability to interface with guests, colleagues, and corporate team members to provide efficient and effective results.
