About The Position

The Office of Residence Life seeks an Area Coordinator to serve as a live-in professional responsible for the vision and operation of multiple residential areas on the Worcester campus. The Worcester campus is comprised of graduate and professional students participating in year-round, accelerated programs. The Residence Life community in Worcester includes approximately 550 residents, living in an array of housing options throughout downtown. This is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position that includes a two-bedroom apartment.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field and demonstrated experience in residential life or student affairs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • An understanding of specialized student populations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office and social media platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for residential students regarding residence life inquiries, providing accurate information, guidance, and support related to housing concerns, policies, and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between students and Facilities for routine and emergency facilities concerns, overseeing communication, tracking project progress, and providing updates on both immediate maintenance issues and large-scale projects.
  • Encourage student accountability for the Student Code of Conduct and Residence Life policies and procedures by serving as a student conduct hearing officer.
  • Manage and respond to inquiries received through the Residence Life general email account, delivering timely customer service and resolving housing-related questions from students, families, and campus partners.
  • Administer student parking operations, including space assignments, activation of electronic access, issuance of parking decals, communication of billing information to Student Accounts, and coordination with Public Safety regarding parking compliance.
  • Manage the room change process, working with students and staff to facilitate the move, key exchange, and appropriate database updates.
  • Oversee the full residential key inventory, including processing lost keys, issuing fees as necessary, preparing keys for distribution at move-in, and processing and storing keys upon move-out.
  • Participate in the Residence Life on-call duty rotation and serve as a primary contact for on-campus emergencies.
  • Support Residence Life operations and functions, including move-in and move-out, Resident Advisor training and selection, orientation, etc.
  • Serve as a member of the Division of Student Affairs by attending training and professional development opportunities and supporting institutional initiatives and programs, including Commencement and Orientation.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
