Architecture Designer
About The Position
AECOM is seeking a creative and experienced Architectural Designer to join our team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality projects. This role, traditionally referred to as a “job captain,” involves leading task teams, solving design and technical challenges, and contributing to all phases of project development—from conceptual studies through construction administration. The ideal candidate will guide others in best practices, collaborate with diverse teams, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position works closely with Project Managers, lead designers, Principals, BIM leaders, QA/QC reviewers, and other practice leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture plus four (4) years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Ability to obtain a Massachusetts Registered Architecture license within 12 months from date of employment.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Architecture.
- Experience in Department of Defense projects.
- Experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and Unified Facilities Guide Specifications.
- Proficiency in Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, and other BIM tools.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, adaptable to various audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to build strong working relationships across teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead and organize architectural drawing sets across all project phases (SD, DD, CD, and CA), ensuring alignment with client, design, and firm goals.
- Seek out and apply industry knowledge and advanced technical expertise to solve design and technical challenges.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to responsibilities with a positive, team-oriented outlook and innovative contributions.
- Analyze issues, identify solutions, and propose approaches for novel challenges.
- Coordinate work across disciplines and departments.
- Exercise independent judgment in determining work execution and review/approve conceptual designs as required.
- Advocate for process improvements and adapt to new workflows or changing assignments.
- Build consensus across teams and departments.
