Architecture Designer I-II

Omni DesignSan Luis Obispo, CA
$26 - $35Onsite

About The Position

Omni Design is a generalist architecture, engineering and land survey firm rooted in San Luis Obispo County. We design commercial, civic, and municipal projects that directly improve the communities where our clients live and work. We’re a small, close-knit team, offering real responsibility, variety, and a voice in the work. We are looking for an early-career architectural professional who is ready to learn fast, contribute immediately, and grow into a confident, well-rounded designer. This is a Level I → Level II growth path role where you'll start by building production and coordination skills, working with licensed architects and engineers. As you grow, you'll take on more ownership, leading drawing sets, coordinating consultants, and serving as a key player on project teams. You'll work directly with the Principal Architect and senior staff on commercial, civic, and municipal projects across San Luis Obispo County.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch), M.Arch, or equivalent degree from an accredited architecture program — or expected graduation within 12 months.
  • 1–4 years of experience in an architecture office, internship, or relevant firm environment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD — working knowledge of architectural drafting and drawing organization.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in drawing production.
  • Strong communication skills — you ask when you're unsure, you follow through, and you meet deadlines.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work in-office in San Luis Obispo County.

Nice To Haves

  • Revit proficiency at production level — independent construction document drawing sets.
  • ARE enrollment in progress or intent to pursue licensure — we actively support this.
  • Exposure to commercial, civic, municipal, or public agency project types.
  • Familiarity with California Building Code, Title 24, or ADA basics.
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu or similar PDF markup tools.
  • Portfolio demonstrating design work and/or production drawing sets.

Responsibilities

  • Produce architectural drawings and construction documents in Revit and AutoCAD under the direction of senior staff.
  • Translate design concepts and redline corrections into clean, accurate drawings.
  • Assist in the preparation of project submittmits, permit packages, and reproduction of documents.
  • Support QA/QC review of project documents before submittal.
  • Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and the internal team to ensure drawings are complete and coordinated.
  • Track project milestones and deadlines alongside the Project Manager.
  • Assist with plan check responses, agency submittals, and permit processing.
  • Participate in project meetings — client, consultant, and internal.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Medical benefits
  • Flexible work schedule
