About The Position

Ferguson Construction is a premier Design-Build commercial general contractor with a strong history of co-op hires who often become permanent members of their 10-member design department. This unique co-op position offers students in-depth construction knowledge, as Ferguson Construction builds what they design with a construction team of over 225 individuals. The role works directly with the Managing Architect and design staff to design, draft, detail, and assemble preliminary and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit. The position may also utilize Revit and Enscape to create 3D models, renderings, and animations for client visualization. Students will have the opportunity to take preliminary designs of various building types, contribute design and detailing input, and create construction documents. This challenging position requires problem-solving skills and will educate the student on all facets of construction necessary for designing unique projects. The complexity of assigned tasks will depend on the student's proficiency; strong previous co-ops have independently designed additions and new buildings of many project types with direction and supervision. The position involves working closely with architectural designers, civil designers, business development, estimating, site superintendents, construction crew leaders, subcontractors/suppliers, and clients.
