About The Position

JPI is seeking an Architectural Project Coordinator to support the design, production, and construction administration of multifamily projects. This position reports directly to the Director of Architectural Production and plays a key role within the Architectural Production Studio by helping coordinate design efforts across all project phases. The ideal candidate will bring 3-7 years of multifamily experience and a strong ability to support architectural production in a fast-paced environment. This role offers hands-on exposure to schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration, while working closely with Project Architects, Studio Directors, consultants, and internal JPI teams. The Architectural Project Coordinator helps transform design concepts into coordinated drawing sets, supports consultant integration, and assists with construction-phase documentation to ensure smooth project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
  • 3–7 years of experience in architectural production or project coordination, preferably with multifamily projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit; experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Bluebeam Revu preferred.
  • Familiarity with Procore or similar project management platforms.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Working knowledge of zoning regulations, building codes, and construction documentation standards.
  • Strong communication, organization, and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Architectural Project Manager in coordinating multiple projects through all phases from schematic design to construction administration.
  • Assist with tracking project schedules, deliverables, and coordination items to ensure milestones are met.
  • Help organize internal and external coordination meetings, page turns, and design reviews.
  • Assist in the production and coordination of schematic design (SD), design development (DD), and construction documents (CD).
  • Utilize a kit of parts approach to architectural design, leveraging pre-approved components to streamline the design process and maximize efficiency.
  • Support the CA department with RFI inquiries.
  • Coordinate with external consultants (Civil engineers, MEP engineers, interior designers, contractors, and other stakeholders) to support cohesive project delivery.
  • Assist senior staff in managing communication and follow-up items across disciplines.
  • Work closely with the Senior Project Manager, the Architectural Production Studio Director, and the Architectural CA Studio Director to support staffing, workflow, and phase transitions.
  • Collaborate with internal design teams, development, investment management, preconstruction, and construction to integrate architectural design requirements into overall project planning.
  • Assist with internal quality reviews to ensure drawing sets align with building codes, JPI standards, and construction requirements.
  • Help track and verify incorporation of value engineering items, accessibility comments, and waterproofing review comments.
  • Support project communication by helping prepare materials, tracking responses, and documenting decisions.
  • Assist in maintaining clear communication between internal teams and external partners.
  • Help track project timelines, consultant deliverables, and internal deadlines.
  • Assist with workload coordination and task prioritization as directed by the Director of Design.
  • Contribute to architectural design with creative solutions and innovative approaches.
  • Identify and address design challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in multifamily architecture and construction, integrating them into the design and documentation process.
  • Assist with reviewing site plans and elevation studies for coordination, zoning compliance, and completeness.
  • Assess the application of the “kit of parts” approach in the site plan, focusing on standardization to streamline future production efforts while maintaining design integrity.
  • Assist with the review of the concept set, ensuring it is complete and aligns with the overall project strategy.
  • Provide feedback and markups to ensure readiness for the next design phase.
  • Support elevation and graphic reviews for internal discussions and presentations.
  • Assist the Senior Project Manager with organizing consultant proposals and tracking scopes.
  • Assist with tracking site constraints and civil coordination items.
  • Facilitate coordination between in-house teams and external consultants, ensuring all stakeholders (structural, MEP, interior design, and landscape architecture) are aligned and progressing according to the project schedule.
  • Assist with tracking unit layout approvals and internal sign-offs.
  • Support the production of a fully coordinated Schematic Design (SD) set in Revit, managing both in-house and outsourced resources, and ensuring timely delivery to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track VE items and document decisions made during SD reviews.
  • Assist with organizing DD reviews and incorporating markups.
  • Ensure all drawings meet project specifications and JPI’s high-quality standards.

  • Assist coordination efforts across all disciplines (architectural, structural, MEP) through the DD Pageturn meeting.
  • Ensure full collaboration between internal and external teams, identifying and resolving any design conflicts early in the process.
  • Issue the DD set and the DD Revised set to all relevant parties and actively participate in design discussions to ensure feedback is incorporated promptly.
  • Assist with coordinating architectural, structural, and MEP inputs into the CD set.
  • Help organize CD pageturn meetings and track follow-up items.
  • Assist with incorporating accessibility and waterproofing review comments.
  • Help prepare and organize CD sets for permit and GMP pricing issuance.
  • Assist with verifying that permit comments, accessibility comments, waterproofing comments, and coordination items are incorporated into the final IFC set.
  • Assist the CA department in responding to RFIs and submittits by preparing background information, markups, and reference materials for review by the CA team.
  • Help verify that RFI and submittal responses align with the approved design intent, construction documents, and JPI standards under the direction of the CA team.
  • Provide design support to the CA team for field-related questions, helping research drawings, details, and prior decisions to facilitate timely responses.
