About The Position

Provide comprehensive planning, architectural design, and project management services for remodeling, renovation, infrastructure improvements, and selected new construction projects across the BYU campus. Responsibilities include programming, project planning, design, preparation of construction documents and specifications, cost and schedule coordination, code compliance, consultant management, construction administration, and project closeout. The position serves as the primary architectural representative throughout the life of assigned projects, ensuring that projects meet university standards, budgets, schedules, and quality expectations.

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Associate's degree in Architectural Technology, Design/Drafting, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in an architectural office or institutional facilities planning environment.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience using Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Expert proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Thorough knowledge of architectural drafting and BIM standards.
  • Thorough understanding of construction specifications and specification software.
  • Thorough knowledge of current International Building Code and related building, fire, accessibility, and life safety codes.
  • Thorough understanding of the ADA Standards for Accessible Design and the adopted edition of ICC A117.1.
  • Working knowledge of structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, audiovisual, communications, and site systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial building materials, construction methods, and detailing.
  • Project planning and scheduling.
  • Budget development and cost control.
  • Consultant coordination.
  • Construction administration.
  • Quality assurance and document coordination.
  • Problem solving and decision making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related field
  • Utah Licensed Architect
  • Experience managing higher education, institutional, healthcare, or commercial projects
  • Experience administering construction contracts

Responsibilities

  • Lead Design Project Manager for shop projects
  • Lead Design Project Manager on select contract projects
  • Manage consulting architects on larger projects
  • Serves as the primary architectural point of contact throughout planning, design, construction, and project closeout.
