About The Position

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a dedicated Architectural Designer I to join our talented team at our office located in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. You will work with a team of Designers, Architects, and Engineers to assist in the design and development of architectural projects to meet or exceed the client's expectations.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of previous architectural design office experience (Co-op or Internship experience qualifies).
  • Must be proficient in the use of Autodesk Revit and possess a fundamental understanding of BIM workflows.
  • General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system design.
  • The ability to exhibit and develop strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders as necessary.
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions.
  • Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol.
  • This position will have 5-20% travel, or as required by the assigned project.
  • Position may be assigned to a client site for an extended period.
  • Overnight travel or staying in the city of the Client’s location is possible, depending on the assignment.
  • Position will visit Client sites and will be required to adhere to stated safety rules.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Must have the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis.
  • This position is a safety-sensitive position.
  • The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree with NAAB Accreditation.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of the design documentation for the following design phases: masterplanning, schematic, preliminary, and construction documentation.
  • Assists more senior department personnel and Architectural Designers I with design solutions by having the ability to interpret mark-up drawings and execute changes on the project based on such mark-ups.
  • Uses Revit to develop architectural contract documentation that aligns with company BIM/CAD standards.
  • Reviews drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company design and production standards.
  • Keeps the Project Team aware of the workload and requests work when needed.
  • Works with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion.
  • Interacts with clients on a limited basis to secure scope and design intent.
  • Ensures acceptable levels of quality and checks for coordination of work to ensure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination.
  • Supports field visits and site surveys when accompanied by more senior departmental personnel.
  • Capable of creating renderings, generating diagrams, and special projects as assigned.
