About The Position

H&H Builders, an award-winning, high-end design-build construction firm in Denver, is seeking an Architectural Assistant to support their design and preconstruction pipeline. This role is critical for eliminating bottlenecks in permit and construction documentation, supporting the lead designer during an upcoming maternity leave, and playing a central role in project progression from concept to construction. The position offers a clear path for growth into higher-level design responsibility for individuals who thrive in technical drawing, precision, and production.

Requirements

• 3-5+ years in architectural drafting, design, or production
• Strong background in residential construction (custom homes or remodeling preferred)
• Experience producing full permit/construction drawing sets
• Ability to think in terms of the entire home, not just isolated spaces
• Proficiency in Vectorworks (preferred) or strong experience in AutoCAD or similar architectural CAD software
• Ability to quickly learn new software platforms (Vectorworks ramp-up expected within ~2 weeks)
• Strong understanding of construction documentation and detailing standards
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong spatial and systems thinking (how the whole house comes together)
• Ability to interpret redlines and execute efficiently
• Coachable, adaptable, and growth-oriented
• Clear communicator and team collaborator

Nice To Haves

• Degree or coursework in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or Civil Engineering (structural emphasis)
• Equivalent hands-on residential design experience is equally valued

Responsibilities

• Translate concept designs (1-2 sheets) into complete permit and construction drawing sets (10-15+ pages)
• Prepare accurate, code-conscious architectural plans for City of Denver submittals
• Coordinate structural sheets with engineering partners
• Execute detailed, high-accuracy construction plans (low creativity, high precision)
• Collaborate closely with the Design Lead for creative direction and oversight
• Collaborate closely with the Preconstruction Team for redlines, site plans, and as-builts
• Collaborate closely with Leadership for design intent, constructability, and budget alignment
• Take ownership of larger portions of the design and production workflow
• Develop toward handling full project drawing packages independently
• Expand into design contribution and client-facing work
• Potentially participate in sales/design-build conversations (optional, performance-based)

Benefits

• Base Salary: $60,000 - $80,000
