About The Position

Model Remodel, a Seattle-based general contractor specializing in high-quality residential remodeling, is seeking a technically strong, collaborative Architect. The role provides architectural expertise and technical design leadership for assigned residential remodeling projects, from early feasibility through permitting and construction support. It focuses on architectural oversight, permit strategy and coordination, documentation quality, constructability, and code alignment to support client goals and the company’s schedule and profitability objectives.

The Architect works closely with Designers, Client Services, Estimating, Production, and external consultants. The role helps maintain consistent drawing and documentation standards, identify risks early, and provide practical recommendations that keep projects moving. This is primarily an in-office role based in Seattle. A limited hybrid schedule may be considered after an introductory period, based on role needs and performance.

Requirements

• Active Washington State Architect license required.
• 5–8 years of experience in residential architecture or residential remodeling design.
• Proven experience supporting residential permit strategy and jurisdictional coordination, including managing corrections and review cycles.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, building codes, zoning requirements, and energy code considerations.
• Ability to review and guide architectural drawings for functionality, constructability, and code compliance.
• Proficiency with residential design and documentation software, such as Chief Architect or comparable platforms.
• Experience coordinating with Designers, structural and energy consultants, estimators, and construction teams to produce coherent, coordinated drawing sets.
• Ability to identify architectural risks early and communicate clear, practical recommendations.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at varying stages.
• Collaborative communication skills and ability to work effectively across disciplines and stakeholders.
• Degree in Architecture or a related field required.
• Current US work authorization; employer-sponsored visa support is not available.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
• Frequent standing, walking, and sitting; ability to navigate uneven terrain, stairs, and active construction environments.
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to work at a computer or desk for extended periods and accurately view drawings, details, and color information.

Responsibilities
