About The Position

This role involves creating architecture designs and technical blueprints for development teams based on business concepts, goals, and objectives. The architect will define current and target state architecture for JPMC's Platform functions, optimizing business value from both Line of Business and Global Technologies products. Responsibilities include engaging in architecture and design management for various Payments Product initiatives, ensuring designs align with the strategic direction of impacted development groups and business areas. The role also requires documenting, approving, and tracking technical debt for remediation, and driving the decommission of legacy capabilities. Collaboration with product leaders, head of architects, engineering directors, managers, and developers is essential to ensure adherence to product architecture principles and to alert stakeholders of any issues. Additionally, the architect will teach, coach, and mentor application teams on software design theory to improve decision-making for product objectives, and manage team career progression and performance evaluations.

Requirements

  • Three- or four-year Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field of study.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or as Architect, Software Engineer, Application Developer or related occupation.
  • Experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability using programming languages and frameworks including Java, REST and SOAP Services, XML, JSON.
  • Experience with observability principles, including logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting, using tools and platforms including Dynatrace, Grafana, and Splunk.
  • Design and development experience with data technologies including NoSQL, distributed caching, RDBMS, messaging, and streaming.
  • Database design and back-end programming, focusing on query optimization, SQL, and PL/SQL, including stored procedures, functions, and packages, using Oracle relational databases and Cassandra NoSQL databases.
  • Experience designing cutting-edge solutions using microservices and event-driven architecture patterns, leveraging distributed event stores and streaming platforms including Kafka.
  • Experience with application design, development and technical processes with cloud technologies, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) using reusable CloudFormation templates to deploy various AWS services, including EC2, Security Groups, Application Load Balancers, Target Groups, S3, SQS, ECS, Docker Images, Kubernetes services and Auto Scaling.
  • Experience analyzing and resolving design and functionality issues in software systems using splunk logs and AWS tech stack.
  • Experience visualizing solutions with Gliffy diagrams.
  • Experience designing and implementing software architecture with expertise in technical domains including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and mobile technologies.
  • Experience developing and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Teach, coach and mentor application teams to use software design theory to make better decisions for their product's objectives.
  • Manage team's career progression and performance evaluation.
