About The Position

This job is responsible for defining an architectural vision and solution aligned to the enterprise architecture strategy, technology, and platform choices. Key responsibilities include describing the solution intent/associated operating environment, evaluating system impacts, determining the primary systems/sub-systems and their interfaces, and assisting with end-to-end solution design. Job expectations include defining non-functional requirements/architectural runway to support new epics/features and ensuring solutions are fit for purpose by working with stakeholders and service providers. We are seeking a highly skilled Engineer to perform a unique, hybrid role that spans product leadership, operational delivery, and vendor governance.

Requirements

  • 7+ years Development or Architecture experience for multi-tiered business applications
  • 7+ years production systems Architecting and/or support role.
  • Proven experience with supporting monitoring tools such as – Glassbox, Dynatrace, Splunk, Catchpoint
  • Proven experience with IBM Cloud Paks
  • Familiarity with supporting monitoring on Cloud and Containers infrastructure
  • Knowledge of OS (Windows/Unix) based infrastructure services, processing, monitoring, shell scripts, etc.
  • Proven experience in programming languages (Java and/or .NET)
  • Proven experience in application/network performance and availability monitoring
  • Proven experience in N-Tier Architecture supporting a multitude of products (Webserver, Middleware, Database, etc.)
  • Knowledge of ITIL functions and processes
  • An excellent communicator, able to network and influence across multiple levels is required of this role
  • A self-motivated, hands-on, driven individual.
  • A strategic thinker who can link business context to technical reality.
  • Experience dealing with vendor relationships
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working and being successful in a large, multi-data center enterprise environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in development and/or support of Banking applications.
  • Experience in Major Incident Management
  • Demonstrated experience influencing change in large organizations
  • 4-year college degree
  • Business acumen a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with the business and operations to identify and understand challenges and opportunities to improve the use and effectiveness of technology, find creative solutions through knowledge of the domain, practical experiments, and Proof of Concepts, and aligns the solution intent and architectural vision to an evolving backlog of technology change
  • Works with product management and other stakeholders to plan and prioritize technology focused backlog items for the architecture runway to enable business epics/features
  • Performs design and code reviews to ensure all non-functional requirements for a solution are sufficiently met (for example, security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability)
  • Leads rapid shaping of a high level architecture with details filled in with emerging business requirements and ensures architecture is flexible, modular, and designed to adapt easily
  • Educates team members on the technology practices, standardization strategies, and best practices to create innovative solutions
  • Clarifies the architecture and assists with system design for the development teams to support implementation and provides solution options to resolve any architectural impediments
  • Utilizes the defined best practices, templates, and documentation to create architectural designs and suggests improvements to best practices and templates
  • Provide primary interface with IBM, owning vendor coordination, issue resolution, alignment between vendor deliverables and enterprise standards as well as MRM approvals and compliance activities
  • Perform hands‑on delivery coordination, bridging the gap between engineering teams, operations, and stakeholders, ensuring execution aligns with strategic objectives
  • Product Expertise with IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps
  • Provide onboarding, enablement, and training to engineering and operations teams across the enterprise
