ARC Melter I - 3rd Shift

About The Position

The ARC Melter Operator produces high-quality tantalum ingots using Electron Beam (EB), Arc, and related vacuum melting furnaces. The position also operates additional Q Plant and support equipment and performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting while adhering to safety and quality standards. This is a 3rd-shift position scheduled Sunday through Friday, 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The role requires working in manufacturing, production, and shipping environments and may require overtime to meet production needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 2 years of industrial manufacturing experience.
Experience with vacuum systems.
Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
Ability to follow detailed operating procedures and safety rules.
Ability to collaborate, make sound decisions, identify production issues, and seek assistance when needed.
Safety-consciousness and ability to understand safety and environmental requirements.
Ability to work in manufacturing, production, and shipping environments.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift for extended periods.
Eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology under applicable export control requirements, as specified in the posting.

Nice To Haves

Experience using computer databases such as SAP.
Vacuum melting experience with EB, Arc, or CMAF.
Quality inspection experience.
Troubleshooting experience.
Forklift experience is described as required or preferred, depending on company standards.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate EB and Arc furnaces according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Operating Procedure Cards (OPCs), and job-specific routers.
Operate GCA and AC furnaces, Hydride/Dehydride and Agglomeration furnaces, Eitel Press, 1500T Press, and mold cleaning equipment as required.
Operate vacuum furnaces and perform vacuum leak detection.
Inspect and maintain molds, melt hardware, and operating supplies.
Inspect materials for compliance with product specifications and report defects or issues to supervision.
Coordinate with welders and downstream operations to support process alignment.
Enter material movements into SAP and complete quality control and lot traceability documentation.
Perform routine troubleshooting, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance on production equipment.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
Follow safety rules, environmental regulations, and operating procedures to support product quality and safe working conditions.
