About The Position

ATI is hiring a Melter for the new melt facility at its Bakers Campus in Monroe, North Carolina. The Melter plays a critical role in the vacuum induction melting process, refining metals and alloys under vacuum to remove dissolved and chemically bonded impurities and produce a clean, homogeneous end product. The role requires critical thinking, complex problem-solving, dependability, analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and attention to detail.

Requirements

• Basic computer skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up and turn around one or more tanks efficiently, operating them and making necessary adjustments according to established procedures.
• Consistently meet melt cycle times on VIM tanks for which trained.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and legible logs, records, and charts.
• Sample and calculate addbacks based on specifications, with some assistance.
• Pour heats according to established procedures and assist with hot transfers.
• Perform furnace changes, lead changes, and other basic maintenance on trained tanks.
• Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts and cranes.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
• Follow prescribed safety regulations and report unsafe acts or conditions.
