About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting with and/or coordinating events associated with the Activities/Life Enrichment department to provide high-quality services/programs which meet the needs of our residents, guests and prospects. The Arbors Activities Lead will deliver high-quality services in a manner consistent with the mission and values of the Legacy Retirement Communities and complies with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of experience with the senior population or in a similar role preferred.
  • Able to lift a maximum of thirty (30) pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, carry, stoop and walk for long periods of time.
  • Possess skills and virtues such as compassion, creativity, outgoing, patience, nurturing, respectfulness, etc. including a high degree of interpersonal relations skills and capable of relating to a variety of people and personalities.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills required.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are required elements of this position.
  • Problem solving skills are needed along with the ability to work with the senior population.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an excellent driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • College education is helpful.
  • Computer competency preferred especially in Microsoft Office products and the internet.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, implement and lead varying levels of events based on residents’ interests and current abilities to include themed events, socials, excursions, etc. This will involve coordination with other departments. Responsible for event details such as decorations, food, transportation, set-up and tear-down, etc. This will also include contacting speakers and musical entertainment.
  • Assist in the development and display of the monthly calendar and daily activities announcements and postings.
  • Seek out ways to “enrich” the lives of our residents.
  • Encourage resident involvement in activities. This includes inviting residents to each activity/event and assisting residents to and from activities.
  • Assist the Day Services residents when in the building i.e.: toileting needs, rest time, getting to meals and with any other needs which may arise.
  • Drive Company vehicles (vans) to activities and events.
  • Work collaboratively with team members from other departments and communicate with appropriate staff as needed to ensure smooth activities/events and promote a positive work culture. Communicate with the care services team as needed to report any concerns with residents.
  • Assist with training other staff members in the Activity/Life Enrichment department.
  • Assist residents with technical issues with personal computers, televisions, telephones, tablets, etc.
  • Perform one-on-one visits or small group encounters for those residents in need or who do not participate in activities.
  • Attend Activities/Life Enrichment team meetings and be willing to work at all Legacy Retirement Communities on an as-needed basis.
  • Keep department documentation up to date, manage activity supplies and be aware of the budget.
  • Practice the Best Friends approach with residents.
  • Assist in maintaining the courtyard area by keeping it tidy, watering flowers and maintaining the yard décor.
  • Assist with managing community owned pets, pet visits and pet supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or the Executive Director of the Community.
