About The Position

Requirements

  • 2 years’ experience trimming/ pruning trees in a residential setting.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with less than 6 demerits.
  • Applicant must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Valid First-Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in physically demanding environments.
  • Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Comfortable working in noisy environments with proper PPE.
  • Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Air brakes endorsement is considered an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of trees, including identification and growth habits would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prune trees to remove dead, damaged, or diseased branches to improve their structure, appearance, and safety.
  • Ensure proper pruning techniques are followed to avoid damaging the tree.
  • Work safely in and around power lines.
  • Work with tree-climbing techniques or aerial lifts for larger trees.
  • Supervise arborist laborers or tree care crews during tree care projects.
  • Coordinate and manage tasks on larger job sites, ensuring smooth operations and safe practices.
  • Evaluate site conditions and recommend the best tree care practices for the location.
  • Assume responsibility for the inspection and proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment.
  • Requests repair or replacement of equipment when necessary.
  • Maintain detailed records of tree care activities, including treatments, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
  • Other duties as required.
