About The Position

The AR Coating Technician produces high-quality anti-reflective coated ophthalmic lenses while maintaining production schedules, equipment performance, clean-room standards, and quality expectations. The role prepares, operates equipment for, and inspects lenses, ensuring products meet Elevate Digital Optics' quality standards. It is part of the Production – Anti-Reflective (AR) Coating department and reports to the Production Supervisor / COO. The technician prepares, inspects, cleans, and mounts lenses; operates AR coating and related equipment; monitors coating cycles and schedules; performs routine equipment care; and maintains accurate production records. The role also works with Surface, Finishing, Shipping, and Quality departments and may cross-train or assist other departments. The position requires strict adherence to clean-room procedures and PPE requirements. Technicians must follow gowning, hygiene, entry, and exit procedures, help maintain a contaminant-free and organized environment, and promptly report contamination concerns or equipment issues. The work takes place in a temperature-controlled clean-room manufacturing facility with production equipment, approved cleaning chemicals, and moderate noise.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Strong attention to detail.
Mechanical aptitude.
Basic computer skills.

Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
Frequent reaching, bending, and repetitive hand movements.
Ability to visually inspect small cosmetic defects.

Nice To Haves

Optical laboratory experience.
AR coating or vacuum coating experience.
Ophthalmic lens manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare, inspect, clean, and mount lenses for AR coating.
Operate Satisloh 380 AR chambers, Schneider USC-150 wash system, EBC-900 equipment, degas ovens, and related equipment.
Monitor coating cycles and production schedules.
Perform daily equipment startup, shutdown, cleaning, and basic preventive maintenance.
Inspect coated lenses for scratches, pits, pinholes, stains, contamination, coating adhesion, color consistency, and cosmetic defects.
Maintain accurate production records.
Meet productivity goals while minimizing remakes and waste.
Work closely with Surface, Finishing, Shipping, and Quality departments.
Cross-train and assist other departments as needed.
Maintain strict clean-room standards, follow gowning and de-gowning procedures, and help maintain a contaminant-free environment.
Report contamination concerns or equipment issues immediately.
Assist with daily clean-room housekeeping and organization.
Wear required PPE, follow clean-room hygiene and entry/exit procedures, and replace contaminated or damaged PPE immediately.
Follow SOPs and meet production and quality expectations.
