About The Position

The Aquatics Program Leader 2 is responsible for the implementation of aquatic programs and services, in a safe and efficient facility, through the coordination of required human and physical resources. This position will have specific facility related responsibilities depending on location the position is assigned. (Recreation, Dawe, Michener or Collicutt Centre)

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent – Minimum 18 years of age
  • Possession of the following current certifications – ability to renew qualifications as required: National Lifeguard Certificate – Pool Option, National Lifeguard Certificate – Waterpark Option (Collicutt Centre), Waterpark Option (G.H. Dawe Centre), Intermediate First Aid/CPR Basic Rescuer (level C CPR) & AED, Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor/Examiner with CPR & AED Instructor/Examiner, National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner
  • Must possess 1 of the following: Lifesaving Instructor Trainer, Lifesaving Society Swim Trainer, Intermediate First Aid Instructor
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience lifeguarding.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience instructing aquatic leadership programs.
  • Ability to handle public relations responsibilities effectively and thoroughly and to be firm and tactful in maintaining pool discipline and to respond calmly to emergencies.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of verbal, written, and listening skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all guests and aquatic team members.
  • Ability to work in conditions that may be noisy and mildly unpleasant.
  • Ability to work weekends and shift work hours.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and supervise aquatic staff, Support hiring, training, evaluation, and recertification, Provide on-deck mentorship and lead team meetings, Ensure staff meet performance, safety, and dress standards
  • Support development and delivery of aquatic programs, Ensure compliance with standards and program quality, Monitor resources, gather feedback, and resolve service issues, Assist with program marketing and promotions
  • Deliver excellent customer service and resolve inquiries/complaints, Support staff with difficult interactions, Coordinate with internal teams and community groups
  • Schedule staff and verify timesheets, Track program data and maintain records, Update procedures and manage equipment/supplies
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations, Promote safe practices and monitor facility conditions, Participate in inspections, reporting, and emergency preparedness
  • Stay current with industry trends, Build external partnerships, Support ongoing program and service improvements
