About The Position

The Aquatics Director is responsible for providing leadership in the development, coordination, planning, administration and supervision of all aquatic facilities and programming. This role ensures the "Arch Amenities Group Experience" for guests by maintaining the standards set in Arch Amenities Group Mission Statement/Values, Standards and Expectations, and Arch Amenities Group Brand Standards. The Director adheres to policies of Arch Amenities Group and assists in the development of a comprehensive standard facility operations manual, including written policies and procedures for all facility services, administration, and maintenance using the Arch Amenities Group operations template. They are responsible for submitting all required paperwork and financial reporting in accordance with Arch Amenities Group policy, and for developing and maintaining accurate department maintenance procedures and checklists through routine preventative maintenance and repair. The role also involves maintaining a monthly inventory of supplies, equipment, and/or products, and ordering all pool supplies. Additionally, the Aquatics Director may write articles or press releases for the department, create a team of service providers to meet all aspects of professionalism and service demands, and maintain a fully staffed department by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training all staff. They ensure staff are fully knowledgeable through regularly scheduled meetings and training workshops, and provide appropriate department supervisory coverage through a Manager on Duty (MOD) system, participating in the facility's MOD schedule. The Director continuously assesses employee progress, coaches with positive reinforcement, disciplines fairly, participates in annual performance evaluations, and assists in termination processes when necessary. They provide excellent customer service, monitor guest feedback, and supervise/follow up on guest requests and comments. Ensuring facility security and proper access is also a key responsibility. The role involves developing an annual budget for pool operations, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and creating and implementing an annual marketing and programming plan to promote aquatic activities and encourage member participation. This includes developing member participation and recruitment plans with detailed promotions, programs, and expenditures. Finally, the Aquatics Director ensures the cleanliness and proper functioning of indoor and outdoor pools, maintains pool licenses, and verifies that all pool employees have current certifications. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years experience in an aquatics related management position.
  • Certified as a lifeguard, certified pool operator, CPR, and First Aid (WSI and/or LGI certification preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills. Must have excellent oral communication skills to work positively with different populations, in groups and individually.

  • Availability When Facility Is Open: This could include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • This position requires that the Aquatics Director be able to swim well enough to maintain current lifeguard certification and in physical shape to perform lifeguarding duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Health Education or related field.
  • WSI and/or LGI certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses all department employees' progress continually; coaches employees with positive reinforcement, and disciplines, when necessary, fairly and consistently; participates in annual performance evaluations, and, when necessary, assists in the termination process.
  • Provides excellent customer service and monitors guest feedback using comment cards and other customer care techniques.
  • Supervises and follows up on department's guest requests and comments.
  • Ensures facility is only accessed by actual members and/or guests, and that it is always safe and secure.
  • Develops annual budget for pool operations and ensures fiscal responsibility through efficient scheduling of department and, when necessary, makes changes to stay within budgetary guidelines.
  • Creates and implements an annual marketing and programming plan to promote all aquatic activities and encourage member participation and utilization.
  • Develops member participation and recruitment plans, outlining in detail all promotions, programs, and any expenditures.
  • Ensures that the indoor and, if applicable, outdoor pools are clean and always functioning properly.
  • Maintains pool licenses and verifies that all pool employees have current certifications.
