About The Position

Under the direction of the Aquatics Program Director, the Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for the supervision and training of Swim Instructors and Lead Swim Instructors and the implementation of high-quality swim lessons across all facilities. The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for performing emergency coverage for swim lessons as needed. This position ensures an atmosphere of discipline, friendliness, and safety within the framework of the YMCA of Superior California Aquatics programs. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Three years’ prior experience in aquatics teaching children and adults.
  • Two years’ prior experience in supervision.
  • Current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Current Lifeguard certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Current Certified Pool Operator or YMCA Pool Operator on Location certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train Lead Swim Instructor and Swim Instructor staff; review, approve, and submit staff timesheets by the end of each pay period.
  • Oversee the implementation of aquatics programs, including swim lessons.
  • Lead and participate in teaching swim lessons.
  • Respond to parent and participant concerns.
  • Works alongside Aquatics Director and Pool Manager to ensure high-quality risk management protocols are maintained across all Aquatics programs
  • Ensure all program equipment is maintained and regularly cleaned.
  • Check pool chemistry as necessary.
  • Maintain risk management policies and respond to emergencies per each facility’s EAP.
  • Responsible for ensuring programs run effectively including during business hours and during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
