About The Position

This is a part-time position at the Aquatics Center. The role involves monitoring and maintaining the pool environment, overseeing lifeguards and instructors, managing facility operations, teaching swimming and water safety skills, ensuring adherence to safety procedures, and providing excellent customer service to the community. Responsibilities include managing pool chemicals and temperature, cleaning various areas, preparing lesson plans, demonstrating skills, testing participants, and addressing inquiries and complaints.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Two years of experience in lifeguarding and aquatics instruction
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license
  • Certified Lifeguard
  • Certified in CPR & First Aid

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, regulates, and records pool chemical levels; monitors and regulates temperature of pool water; vacuums and skims pool; cleans deck areas, restrooms, locker rooms, walkways, and pool furniture; stocks paper goods; and maintains related documentation.
  • Monitors work of lifeguards, senior lifeguards, and aquatics instructors.
  • Opens and closes facility; maintains cleanliness of building; monitors staff coverage for programs and events; and provides exceptional service to community.
  • Prepares lesson plans; teaches and demonstrates a variety of skills, such as floating, kicking, stroke techniques and water safety; tests participants; makes recommendations for future classes and skills development; and monitors safety of participants during classes.
  • Assists in ensuring lifeguard staff is properly trained to perform any water rescue techniques or First Aid or CPR if necessary; ensures proper skills are being taught at the appropriate level and instructors are conducting classes in a manner appropriate for age and skill level of participants.
  • Provides information and answers questions regarding pool policies, procedures, programs, fees, etc.; responds to questions and complaints; and initiates problem resolution.
  • Ensures adherence to established safety procedures; and monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and others.
