About The Position

This posting is for two identical vacancies (positions: 00003876 and 00054453). By applying to this recruitment you will be considered for both vacancies. The Aquatics and Exotics Laboratory Animal Technician supports the daily operation of aquatic and exotic animal research programs by providing routine husbandry, system maintenance, and regulatory support. This position is responsible for the daily care and monitoring of research animals, including feeding, health checks, tank cleaning, and misting, as well as the care and harvesting of zooplankton and insects used in feeding programs. The technician maintains aquatic systems through routine room and equipment upkeep and performs water quality analyses to ensure optimal environmental conditions. The role also includes maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, such as animal census data, room and system logs, and other required documentation, as well as monitoring inventory levels of supplies and equipment to sustain uninterrupted operations. Additional responsibilities include operating cage washers and autoclaves and assisting with preparation for regulatory inspections. Working closely with researchers, veterinary staff, and team members, this position contributes to a well-organized, efficient, and compliant animal care program.

Requirements

  • Experience with daily care and monitoring of research animals.
