About The Position

This posting is for a Regular Part-Time Professor position to teach Cours élémentaire d'italien II / Elementary Italian II (ITA1912 Section A) during the 2027 Winter Semester at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Arts, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. The course focuses on the mastery of fundamental speaking, reading, and writing skills in Italian, including grammar, vocabulary, oral and written practice, and computer-assisted learning with multimedia resources. Students will achieve A1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The course is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:30 to 19:00. The position is limited to Regular Part-Time Professors. The expected enrollment is 35 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The hourly rate for language courses is $203.54 (2024-2025 rates, subject to collective agreement ratification). The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. This is a regular posting for a language course, to be taught in person.

Requirements

  • M.A. in Italian or equivalent.
  • Italian-speaking or near-native linguistic competence in Italian.
  • Experience in teaching Italian beginner levels at university.
  • Experience in creating and managing virtual content, as well as applications related to virtual teaching.
  • Experience with Brightspace.
  • Bilingual (French and English).
