About The Position

The Rheumatology APRN at OrthoArkansas plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals with autoimmune and rheumatologic conditions. This provider works collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff to evaluate, diagnose, and manage complex chronic conditions while ensuring a compassionate and high-quality patient experience. The APRN is responsible for clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and contributing to the overall success of the Rheumatology department.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited APRN program.
  • Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (FNP, AGNP, or applicable specialty).
  • Current Arkansas APRN license.
  • Full Independent Practice License in the state of Arkansas OR a minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice experience with eligibility to obtain Full Independent Practice status, including a collaborating/supervising provider willing to support the application process.
  • Current DEA registration (if prescribing controlled substances).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
  • Ability to manage complex chronic conditions independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based healthcare environment.
  • Intermediate: Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
  • Basic: Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Prior rheumatology experience preferred.
  • Experience managing chronic autoimmune conditions and biologic therapies preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Rheumatology-specific training or certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments including history, physical examinations, and diagnostic interpretation.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for rheumatologic conditions.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with Arkansas state regulations.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with supervising physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists and ancillary services as appropriate.
  • Participate in case discussions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Support infusion therapy oversight and medication management.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and disease management strategies.
  • Promote preventive care and lifestyle modifications to support long-term health outcomes.
  • Address patient concerns with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and organizational regulations.
  • Adhere to HIPAA standards and patient confidentiality policies.
  • Participate in department meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support clinic throughput and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to maintaining a collaborative, respectful, and high-performing work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support clinic operations and patient care excellence.
