About The Position

The Advanced Practice Nurse will assist physicians with clinic, organizing visits and performing clinic procedures. Primarily assessing patients in a clinic setting, triaging for PT and interventional pain as well as preparing them to see a surgeon visit as needed. Potentially could assist in the operating room, answer pages and round on post-operative patients on a daily and PRN basis. The APRN will be responsible for managing care of outpatients post-operatively, answering telephone inquiries and filling prescriptions. Urgent Care clinic coverage with opportunities for after hours care coverage. APRN must have a high level of expertise to perform assessments/diagnosis/treatment of actual/potential problems of patients. This is located in The Orthopedic and Spine Hospital (TOSH).

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • 2 Years of Nursing experience
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas; APRN
  • Must be able to operate all typical nursing equipment essential to performing the job (i.e., scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines).
  • Must have normal communication sensory requirements.
  • Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated.
  • Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates specialized, multidisciplinary care and facilitates consults of patients to ensure timely and appropriate treatment.
  • Provides comprehensive health assessments, determines diagnoses, implements treatment plans, prescribes medical treatments, and manages health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physician.
  • Collaborates with a variety of health care professionals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems, serving as a resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
  • Manages post procedure immunosuppression and labs of the patient in coordination with the physician and pharmacist.
  • Participates in institutional initiatives and encourages the participation of others.
  • Collaborates in policy and program development, implementation, and evaluation using best practices in delivering quality service.
  • Edits and documents results in various critical care systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
