About The Position

The Trauma Surgery Team is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated APRN/Physician Assistant to join our dynamic inpatient trauma service. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with trauma surgeons, residents, other APRN/Physician Assistant, and the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to adult trauma patients. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, collaborative, and highly respected trauma team at the only adult Level I Trauma Center in Arkansas. The APRN/PA will manage health issues for patients, independently or in collaboration with the designated physicians. Other duties may be assigned to expand and improve patient care. The APRN/PA will be expected to provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments, and manage health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physician(s). The APRN/PA will work autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of medical professionals. The APRN/PA will extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The APRN/PA will work autonomously, as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems, and will serve as a health care resource. interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate. The APRN/PA will also coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate. Other duties may be assigned to this position.

Requirements

  • APRN: Master's degree in nursing
  • Three (3) years of nursing experience
  • Acute Care Certification
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas
  • APRN License
  • PA: Master's Education
  • PA Licensure

Responsibilities

  • Participate in daily inpatient rounds on trauma and acute care surgery patients, including assessment, plan development, documentation, and coordination of care
  • Respond promptly to trauma activations and assist in initial patient evaluation and resuscitation in collaboration with the trauma team
  • Provide follow-up care and support discharge planning to ensure safe and effective patient transitions
  • Staff a weekly outpatient follow-up clinic for trauma and surgical patients
  • Collaborate with case management, nursing, therapy, and other disciplines to optimize patient outcomes
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, data collection, and process improvement projects to support program goals and patient safety
  • Attend and contribute to trauma education and multidisciplinary conferences, including morbidity and mortality reviews, trauma performance improvement, and continuing education sessions
  • Support clinical education of students, residents, or other learners as appropriate
