About The Position

The Primary Care Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides comprehensive, adult patient-centered care across the lifespan, including health promotion, disease prevention, acute and chronic disease management, and coordination of care. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the APRN evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients while promoting evidence-based practice, patient education, and continuity of care to improve individual and population health outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing – Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) (for APRN)
  • Three (3) years of nursing experience. (Two years of RN experience. One year of Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) experience.) (for APRN)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas (for APRN)
  • APRN License (for APRN)
  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification. (for APRN)
  • Master’s Degree – Physician Assistant (for PA)
  • 1 year of PA experience in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care or Family Medicine (for PA)
  • PA license (for PA)
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • DNP (for APRN)
  • 4 years of nursing experience (Two years of Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) experience.) (for APRN)
  • Prescriptive authority and a DEA license must be obtained after hire.
  • Primary Care clinic experience.
  • 4 years of PA experience in a Gerontology and/or Family Practice Experience (for PA)

Responsibilities

  • Extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians.
  • Provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments, and manage health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physician(s).
  • Work autonomously, as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems; and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
  • Coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, and assuring that care is timely and appropriate.
  • Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
  • Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.
  • Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.
