About The Position

The Primary Care Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides comprehensive, adult patient-centered care across the lifespan, including health promotion, disease prevention, acute and chronic disease management, and coordination of care. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the APRN evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients while promoting evidence-based practice, patient education, and continuity of care to improve individual and population health outcomes.

Requirements

Master's Degree in Nursing – Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) (for APRN)
Three (3) years of nursing experience. (Two years of RN experience. One year of Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) experience.) (for APRN)
Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas (for APRN)
APRN License (for APRN)
Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification. (for APRN)
Master’s Degree – Physician Assistant (for PA)
1 year of PA experience in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care or Family Medicine (for PA)
PA license (for PA)
Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

DNP (for APRN)
4 years of nursing experience (Two years of Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) experience.) (for APRN)

Responsibilities

Extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians.
Provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments, and manage health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physician(s).
Work autonomously, as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems; and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
Coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, and assuring that care is timely and appropriate.
Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.
Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
Other duties as assigned.
