About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for its Cancer Service Line, specifically within the clinic and infusion areas. This role involves extending patient care and administrative services for UAMS physicians in both inpatient and outpatient settings at the Cancer Institute Outpatient Clinic and Infusion areas. The APP will be responsible for comprehensive health assessments, diagnosing conditions, implementing treatment plans, performing procedures, and prescribing medicines and treatments. They will manage patient health issues, working both independently and in collaboration with designated physicians. The APP will also serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate, coordinating multidisciplinary care and ensuring timely and appropriate treatment. This posting covers multiple positions with various shifts and schedules, including roles such as Infusion B - Transplant APP, Myeloma Clinic APP, Hematology Oncology Clinic APP, Thoracic Oncology/Surgery Clinic APP, and Head and Neck Oncology APP.

Requirements

APRN: Master’s Degree in nursing PLUS 2 years nursing experience, preferably in Acute Care
APRN Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas and APRN/CPN License
PA: Master's Degree as a Physician Assistant (PA).
PA Licensed Registered Physician Assistant (PA)
Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.
Must be able to operate all typical medical equipment essential to performing the job (i.e., scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines).
Must have normal communication sensory requirements.
Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated.
Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

Prescriptive authority and DEA license must be obtained after hire for both APRN and PA roles.

Responsibilities

Manage health issues for patients, independently or in collaboration with the designated physicians.
Work autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of medical professional individuals.
Extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, perform procedures, and prescribe medicines and treatments.
Provide daily care until the last patient is seen for the day.
Serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
Coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate.
Interact with and assist the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
Demonstrate effective communication skills; communicate accurate and complete information; maintain strict confidentiality when necessary.
Demonstrate positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follow the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.
Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
