The Mescalero Service Unit, operated by the Indian Health Service, provides a comprehensive range of healthcare services to the Mescalero Apache Tribe or another Native American community. These services encompass primary care, dental care, behavioral health support, public health programs, emergency and urgent care, maternal and child health services, chronic disease management, pharmacy services, and optometry services. The OBGYN Physician is Responsible for completing a medical degree from an accredited medical school and fulfilling a residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Demonstrating proficiency in diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries related to the genitourinary and reproductive systems is a key responsibility of OBGYNs. Diagnose and manage a comprehensive range of obstetrical and gynecological cases. Demonstrate competence in the insertion and management of intrauterine devices (IUDs). Provide care to both routine and complicated antenatal patients, ensuring a thorough understanding of prenatal care. The OBGYN Physician performs both vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections with proficiency. Conduct pelvic exams to assess and monitor reproductive health. Conduct colposcopy procedures to evaluate and address abnormal Pap smears. Perform routine gynecological surgeries, including abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy, and operative laparoscopic treatments, falls within the responsibilities of OBGYNs. The OBGYN Physician conducts various office-based procedures such as endometrial biopsy, routine obstetric ultrasounds, and participating in rotating OB/GYN on-call services.
