About The Position

Professional Tree Care is hiring physically fit trainees for their Grounds-to-Climber Apprenticeship program. This is a self-paced program designed for self-starters willing to learn knots, practice climbing, and help each other towards ISA certification. The role requires a commitment to career development, including studying on your own time. The position is based in Martinez, CA, with work sites ranging from Napa to Monterey and Sacramento to the Bay Area. Applicants must live within a 45-minute commute of Richmond, CA.

Requirements

• CURRENT and CLEAN California Driver’s License (no points).
• Reliable transportation (deal breaker).
• Physically fit.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Able to hoist/pull yourself up into a tree using ropes and pulleys once trained.
• Able to work outdoors year-round in Northern California weather (rain, direct sun, etc.).
• Able to run, walk, and hustle (work fast) for up to 8 hours per day.
• Not afraid of heights.
• Seeking a career, not just a job.
• Must live within a 45-minute commute of Richmond, CA.
• Must be able to arrive at the job site by 6:15 a.m.
• Submit a resume.

• Complete a survey from Predictive Index (if sent) in the language of strongest vocabulary.

Nice To Haves

• Experience doing Grounds-person work.
• Experience in Landscaping.
• Experience in Tree or Rock Climbing or anything similar.

Responsibilities

• Learn and practice climbing techniques.
• Study on your own time to learn knots, climbing techniques, and safety procedures.
• Gather with work mates on weekends to learn knots and practice climbing.
• Help each other on the way to becoming ISA-certified Tree Climbers.
• Potentially work towards ISA Grounds-person and ISA Tree Climber certifications.

Benefits

• $19.50 to $21.00 per hour to start.
• Overtime paid at $1.5x the regular rate ($29.50 to $31.50 per hour).
