About The Position

Professional Tree Care is hiring physically fit trainees for their Grounds-to-Climber Apprenticeship. This is a self-paced program designed for self-starters willing to learn knots, practice climbing, and help each other to become ISA-certified Tree Climbers. The program involves studying on your own time to become proficient as a Grounds-person and potentially advancing to Tree Climber certifications. The work is outdoors year-round in Northern California and requires physical fitness, the ability to work at heights, and a commitment to a career in tree care.

Requirements

• CURRENT and CLEAN California Driver’s License.
• Reliable transportation (deal breaker).
• SEVEN (7) years of work experience since high school/GED.
• Physically fit.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Able to hoist/pull yourself up into a tree using ropes and pulleys (once trained).
• Able to work outdoors year-round in Northern California weather.
• Able to run, walk, and hustle (work fast) for up to 8 hours per day.
• Not afraid of heights.
• Seeking a career, not just a job.
• Willing to study on your own time.
• Live within a 45-minute commute of Richmond, CA.
• Submit a resume including ALL JOBS since high school/GED with months, years, company name, location, and title.

Nice To Haves

• Experience doing Grounds-person work.
• Experience in Landscaping.
• Experience in Tree Climbing.
• Experience in Rock Climbing or anything similar.

Responsibilities

• Learn knots and climbing techniques.
• Practice climbing.
• Assist work mates.
• Study on your own time to become a good Grounds-person.
• Ascend safely using ropes and pulleys.
• Work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions.
• Run, walk, and hustle for up to 8 hours per day.
• Maintain a clean and current California Driver's License.
• Ensure reliable transportation to job sites.

Benefits

• $21.00 per hour to start.
• Overtime paid at $31.50 per hour.
